One of the most important skills in Volleyball is being able to pass with a high level of consistency. Volleyball is all about attacking hard, and if you are unable to defend with that high level of consistency then you are in a lot of trouble. As a result, there are hundreds of Volleyball Passing Drills that have been developed. Of course, these need to be matched with the skill level of the players who are learning. You wouldn’t teach someone who has never held a Volleyball how to pass by belting balls at them all day long. The basic skills need to come first, and once the correct technique has been developed then you can move onto some more serious Volleyball Passing Drills.
One of the most important things to include in a passing drill is movement. There is very little opportunities in Volleyball where you are able to pass a Volleyball without having to move at all. The faster that you learn to react (and even read where the ball is going to go), the faster you move and the faster you get into position to pass the better off you are going to be. You will regularly see shanks when a passer is not in the right position. As a result, make sure what ever Volleyball Passing Drills you pick that they include a lot of movement. Be sure that there is some form of balance though, as you don’t want to compromise on the technique. I must recommend Mizuno Volleyball Shoes because of the extra grip that they give. This is so important in Volleyball.
One of the best passing drills is simply to have four people, two on either side of a Volleyball Court. Pass the ball to the person on the other side, and then step behind the other person on your team. Keep rotating. There are many variations to this – you can have 8 people ( 2 in each corner of the court) and have some of them spiking at your passers. Volleyball Passing Drills are well worth spending the time on – they make a big difference. If you want, use Cheap Volleyballs in your training as they tend to be harder on your forearms, which need to be conditioned.
